TEACHER TRAINING
Instructors are drawn from the ranks of local public and private school teachers and from local graduate studies programs. Initial training covers the characteristics of each stage of reading development and the reading development curriculum designed to meet the needs of each stage. The second phase of training includes pedagogical skills and the practical components of delivering instruction, including leading discussions, lecturing, managing classroom behavior, and delivering information to parents. After completion of the first two phases of training, teachers participate in weekly professional development meetings.
